Our reason for being is to create and sell products and services that promote Bem-estar-Bem. This concept, also known as "well-being-well", is the harmonious, nurturing relationship with oneself and one's body, as well as with others, with nature, and with the world.
We seek to run our business based on a responsible management model, which engenders economic growth and seeks to perpetuate the company while taking environmental and social-impact concerns into consideration.
As a result, we dedicate all our efforts to making strategic and practical decisions that create a sense of social inclusion and are compatible with sustainable development.
The outcome is the sustainable use of biodiversity assets as a technological platform, the adoption of a socio-environmental evaluation process for suppliers, the development of packages that have lower environmental impact, and adopting and encouraging the use of refills, among others. Our environmental policy encompasses responsibility for future generations.
As a result, our daily reflection on productive processes and services includes major environmental issues, such as the sustainable use of water, gas release control, efficient use of energy, and overall residue reduction.
Along with the sustainability initiative, we have adopted the guidelines set forth by the Agenda 21, and we observe the Global Compact principles, of which we are signatories. Additionally, we hold the NBR ISO 14001 and NBR ISO 9001 certifications.
Through these collaborations with several organizations in Brazil and in the countries where we have operations, we are helping to build a better future.
Refill
In yet another innovative initiative, in 1983 Natura began to produce and sell refills, whose average mass is almost 54% less than the mass of regular packaging. Since that time, Natura has placed 2,200 fewer tons of packaging on the market. This revolutionary project resulted in a significant decrease in the disposal of solid waste in the environment.By producing refills instead of regular packaging, we reduce the consumption of the planet's raw materials, decreasing environmental impact. But it is not just the producer who has a role in this story. Consumers must also have an attitude of awareness, avoiding waste and choosing materials that can be reused.
The use of refills is a good example of how to become an aware consumer. It’s also more economical, because refills are generally less expensive than products in regular packaging. Below are three steps that make a difference:
Reduce: Refills are made from a material that is different from regular packaging. Producing this material uses fewer raw materials, which means it requires fewer natural resources to be manufactured and it generates less waste after being thrown away.
Reuse: Refills reuse a product's regular packaging. There are many packages and materials that may be reused, thus avoiding expense and waste.
Recycle: The plastic used in refills is recyclable and may be transformed into new products. To do this, it is important to separate our trash at home and ensure that it is collected properly.
